§ 32-65. Special requirements.

  • At the time the safety officer approves an application for a permit, or at any time after a permit is issued, the safety officer may require:

    (1)

    The use or specific location of additional barricades, signs or other traffic-control devices or the pursuance of special traffic procedures;

    (2)

    That the work be performed only at certain hours during the day, or on specified days;

    (3)

    That only a specified area or that not more than a specified number of traffic lanes may be blocked at any time;

    (4)

    That materials and equipment used in the work site and dirt or debris from any excavation be located other than in the travel lanes of any street; and

    (5)

    That all equipment be moved from the travel lanes of any street and/or that any excavation in the traffic lanes be covered or filled with materials of sufficient construction and strength to permit the passage of vehicular traffic during certain hours or at night.

    When such requirements are deemed necessary by the safety officer in the interest of public safety or to avoid traffic congestion, such special requirements shall be included on the permit and shall be a part thereof.
