§ 7-39. Poultry on private property.

  • Poultry shall be allowed on private property within the city subject to the requirements and limitations of this article.

    (1)

    The number of hens shall be limited to six (6) per lot. Roosters may not be maintained upon any property in the city east of 103rd Street.

    (2)

    Property upon which poultry are permitted must be maintained in a clean and sanitary condition. Perceptible noise from chickens at the property boundary shall comply with all city ordinances regulating noise.

    (3)

    Chickens must be kept in a coop or run enclosure at all times. Coops and runs must be completely enclosed with wire, aviary netting or solid roofing and shall be impermeable to pests and predators. Chicken feed must be stored securely in a pest-proof container.
