§ 36-162. Construction and maintenance.

  • (a)

    All sanitary sewers and appurtenances built under any permit issued pursuant to this division shall be constructed and maintained in accordance with the plans, profiles and specifications approved by the city and shall be built in accordance with rules and regulations governing and controlling the installation and repairing of sanitary sewers, as well as to all plumbing codes and other health codes, and all sanitary sewers and appurtenances shall be built and maintained subject to the Charter and ordinances of the city.

    (b)

    It shall be the duty and responsibility of the permittee to keep, without expense to the city, all sanitary sewers and appurtenances in good state of repair and to maintain the same and all connections therewith free from obstructions or defects, and it shall be the further duty of the said permittee to operate and maintain the facilities agreeably to the Code of the city and in such a manner so as to prevent any conditions arising therefrom that may affect the public health.

    (c)

    It shall be the special duty of the said permittee as well as all other persons maintaining lateral connections to be diligent in protecting the public health against any improper sewers, connections or appurtenances made with its said sanitary sewer, and the said permittee, as well as all other parties maintaining lateral connections, shall obey all notices served by the city and shall immediately repair or remove any obstruction or defective conditions arising in its said sanitary sewer, laterals or appurtenances maintained by said permittee or others.
