§ 31-52. Height and suspension of electric wires.

  • The following heights shall be used as standard in suspending wires which carry electricity:

    (a)

    Signal and communication wires shall be first in point of suspension above the ground. They shall be not less than eighteen (18) feet above the ground and shall be suspended at any greater height that may be necessary to accommodate all of such wires.

    (b)

    Low tension and secondary wires shall be next in point of suspension above the ground. They shall not be less than twenty (20) to twenty-four (24) feet above the ground, as conditions may require; provided, however, such wires may be not less than eighteen (18) feet above the ground under suitable conditions when the same pole is not used for signal or communication wires.

    (c)

    The city's primary wires shall be next in point of suspension above the ground and above these shall be the primary wires of local power and light companies.
