§ 26-31. Responsibility for naming or renaming parks, ball fields, or other recreational facilities.

(a)

In accordance with procedures adopted by city council, the parks and recreation advisory board (board) shall be responsible for recommending to city council names for parks, ball fields, and other recreational facilities. City council shall make the final determination regarding the naming or renaming of parks, ball fields, and other recreational facilities.

(b)

Parks, ball fields, and other recreational facilities must maintain the original name for a minimum of ten (10) years before a name change will be considered. Any park, ball field, or other recreational facility whose original name is changed shall maintain the new name for a minimum of ten (10) years before a subsequent name change will be considered.
