§ 24-11. Theft of cable television services.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person, without authority of the cable television company, to intentionally obstruct, injure, break, tamper with or destroy or in any manner interfere with or interrupt any cable television service, line, cable or other cable television equipment, or the transmission of signals by the cable television company in connection with such line, cable, or equipment, or in any manner divert, intercept, decode, descramble, convert, use or receive any television, radio, audio, video or other signal by any unauthorized connection with any line or cable of the cable television company, or to take, carry away, injure or destroy any of the converters, posts, cables, wires, insulators, fixtures, equipment, installation or other things belonging to the cable television company or used in connection with the furnishing of cable television services.

    (b)

    For purposes of this section "cable television company" shall mean any company, or companies, operating within the corporate limits of the City of Galveston to provide cable television service within the City of Galveston pursuant to a franchise agreement; and "person" shall include individuals, partnerships, corporations and any other association, singular or plural.

    (c)

    Penalty: Any person who violates any provision hereof shall be, upon conviction, guilty of a Class C misdemeanor and shall be subject to a fine in the penal sum not to exceed two hundred dollars ($200.00). Each day any such violation continues shall constitute a separate offense.
