§ 23-70. Definitions.

  • As used in this article, the following words and terms shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, unless the context of their usage clearly indicates another meaning:

    Awning shall mean a structure extended before or over a window or door.

    Building inspector shall mean the administration director of housing and community services, or designee.

    Bulkheads shall mean an upright partition, or a retaining wall located at the edge of a body of water, or other shoreline protection.

    Commission shall mean the building standards commission.

    Owner shall mean the owner of the structure, the owner's agent, or the owner or occupant of the property on which the structure is located.

    Shed shall mean a structure used for shelter or storage.

    Structure shall mean bulkheads, other shoreline protection, awnings, or sheds.

    Substandard shall mean the bulkhead or other structure constitutes a menace to the health, safety or general welfare to the owner or occupants, adjacent property, or to the public.
