§ 23-2.2. Iceboxes, refrigerators, freezers and other containers.

  • It shall be unlawful for any person to place, or allow to be placed, outside of any building or dwelling an abandoned, unattended, or discarded icebox, refrigerator, freezer, or any other container that has an airtight snap lock, or other locking device; or that has a magnetic seal-type door without first removing the lock or doors from the icebox, refrigerator, freezer, or similar container.

    (1)

    A person served notice by the city, shall immediately remove the icebox, refrigerator, freezer, or other container, or shall immediately remove the doors.

    (2)

    Should a person fail to remove immediately the icebox, refrigerator, freezer, or other container, or the doors, the city shall abate the nuisance in compliance with section 23-6 of the Code of the City of Galveston, 1982, as amended.

    (3)

    A violation of this section shall be an offense punishable by a fine not exceeding two thousand dollars ($2,000.00). Each day a violation continues shall constitute a separate offense.
