§ 16-1. Terms construed.

  • As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings designated in this section:

    Vessel: A boat, ship, lighter, barge or other floating craft of any kind when berthed or moored at, or made fast to any waterfront property, or when moored or made fast or alongside any other vessel berthed or moored or made fast to any waterfront property, or when in any drydock, shipyard or repair yard, or otherwise undergoing construction or repair or when lying in the harbor, within the port and corporate limits of the city, or anchored or moored near thereto.

    Waterfront property: All of the lands and all of the docks, wharves, piers, bulkheads, landings, drydocks, shipyards, repair yards and similar facilities, railroad tracks, sheds, warehouses, plants, factories, buildings and other structures located on land adjacent to the Galveston Ship Channel or the Galveston Harbor.
