§ 15-68. Insurance.

  • No refuse collection vehicle shall be operated on the public streets, highways, alleys and rights-of-way of the city unless the applicant provides evidence to the city manager that he has in full force and effect a public liability insurance policy on his refuse collection vehicles and on his refuse operations, such insurance policy to be issued by an insurance company licensed to do business in the State of Texas. Such insurance policy, with respect to each vehicle, shall provide liability insurance in the amount of not less than two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000.00) personal injury per person, five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00) for personal injury in one accident and, not less than one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) for property damage. Each liability insurance policy shall contain a provision obligating the insurer to give the city manager written notice of cancellation not less than ten (10) days prior to the date of any cancellation and, further, each policy shall name the city as an additional insured.
