§ 14-74. Cost of abatement of the violation; cost of enforcement.

  • After abatement of the violation by the city, the owner will be notified of the cost of abatement, including administrative costs, by United States mail at the address on file with the Galveston County Appraisal district. The owner may file a written protest objecting to the amount of the assessment within thirty (30) days of its assessment, pursuant to the procedure set forth in section 14-72, above. If the amount due is not paid timely as determined by the decision of the city manager or by the expiration of the time in which to file an appeal, the charges shall become a special assessment against the property and shall constitute a lien on the property for the amount of the assessment as is permitted under this Code relating to nuisances. The city may recover all attorneys' fees, court costs and other expenses associated with enforcement of this article, including sampling and monitoring expenses.
