§ 14-74. Cost of abatement of the violation; cost of enforcement.
Latest version.
After abatement of the violation by the city, the owner will be notified of the cost
of abatement, including administrative costs, by United States mail at the address
on file with the Galveston County Appraisal district. The owner may file a written
protest objecting to the amount of the assessment within thirty (30) days of its assessment,
pursuant to the procedure set forth in section 14-72, above. If the amount due is not paid timely as determined by the decision of the
city manager or by the expiration of the time in which to file an appeal, the charges
shall become a special assessment against the property and shall constitute a lien
on the property for the amount of the assessment as is permitted under this Code relating
to nuisances. The city may recover all attorneys' fees, court costs and other expenses
associated with enforcement of this article, including sampling and monitoring expenses.
