§ 12-246. Grounding.

  • (a)

    All service equipment must be grounded with approved bolted cleat-type grounding clamps with cable or conduit fittings to three-quarter-inch galvanized conduit or water pipe closed on driven end and driven not less than eight (8) feet, leaving the top of pipe open for inspection or ground rods of surface equivalent to three-quarter-inch pipe. Ground rods may be required to be driven in the presence of the electrical inspector at his discretion.

    (b)

    Bare grounding conductors shall never be used as a neutral conductor, only as an equipment ground in all wiring methods (i.e., certain electrical appliance with convenience outlets built in, have an insulated neutral conductor).
