§ 12-185. Insurance.

  • (a)

    No active electrical sign contractor's license shall be issued until the contractor shall have arranged to protect his operations with general public liability insurance, including completed operations and motor vehicle insurance, providing minimum limits for bodily injury of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) per person and fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) per accident, and providing minimum limits for property damage of ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) per accident.

    (b)

    Such insurance shall be provided by a company accredited by and under the supervision of the board of insurance commissioners of the state. All such policies shall contain an endorsement to the effect that, in the event of their cancellation of any policy, at least ten (10) days' written notice in advance of cancellation shall be furnished to the electrical inspector of the city.

    (c)

    The original of the policy, or a copy thereof, or a signed certificate of insurance, shall be filed with the electrical inspector and approved by the city attorney before the license shall be granted. Satisfactory evidence of such required insurance shall continuously be on file with the electrical inspector for the license to remain in effect.
